Words Words Words
Of all my jewelry, these are the pieces closest to my heart. I started making jewelry when I was 8, and started writing short stories and poems around the same time. At age 32, I have finally found a way to combine these two passions…
When I sell at craft fairs, I put out bowls of words so that people can pick their own and buy them separately, or customize any of the pieces I have for sale. This is the most fun part of my little business – watching people go through the bowls and laugh at what they find, make suggestions, and lose themselves in the hunt for the perfect words.
It really made me think about how we are so divorced from the designers of our clothing and jewelry – how we buy things to wear that we feel represent our personality and style, but we have no idea who designed what we have chosen. I think that’s why people really love to buy things at craft fairs – because they can meet the artist and form a personal connection with what they are wearing.
It was a real privilege to help people choose text for their loved ones. Now that I’m working full time I’m not doing fairs, and I definitely miss it!

This week, I am sharing my text jewelry. Some of it is my own word combinations – and my favorites necklaces contain pieces of my favorite poems by e.e. cummings, Pablo Neruda, and Charles Bukowksi.
